CONSULTANTS FOR ACOUSTICS | COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGIES | THEATER

This ground up 100,000 square foot project opened in the fall

of 2012 and houses the new studios of KUT radio and various departments of the College

of Communications. HMBA provided acoustic, audio-visual, information technology and broadcast system designs for

the various production, assembly and educational spaces of the project.

KUT Radio, the NPR affiliate for Austin, outgrew their 60’s era existing facilities. The new home includes an 80 seat performance space to accommodate local and traveling musical artists, a smaller studio for solo artists, talk and music studios, edit rooms, and various support spaces. The project also features audio-visual systems designed by HMBA for journalism and media studies classrooms, a digital screening room, a 300 seat auditorium and other spaces

all connected via fiber to a video production studio across the street from the new building

for recording and streaming

Belo events.
