HMBA served as the Theater and Technical Systems Design Consultants for this adaptive reuse of a 1930’s Montgomery Ward Department Store. The existing five story department story was converted into a world-class theater center, now called the Pyrle Theater. The $4 million dollar restoration took three years to complete, opening in 2002 complete with a 300 seat thrust stage theater, rehearsal hall, offices, two spacious lobbies and audience special events spaces. Home to new playwrights and original works, Triad Stage has produced more than 75 productions since opening in 2002.
