Bill Marshall

Bill Marshall is a Principal Consultant and Partner at Harvey Marshall Berling Associates. He oversees Lighting, Audio-Visual and Theater consulting services provided by the firm. Bill has over 40 years of experience in the design of theater, broadcast studios and audio/video facilities. He was extensively involved in the renovation of Madison Square Garden including the design of the Theater at Madison Square Garden, as well as the interior and exterior lighting and the audio-video systems for the entire complex.

He has served in similar capacities on the Marine Midland Arena in Buffalo and the Keil Arena in St. Louis. He has authored the last three editions of National Association of Broadcasters Handbook of studio design, he has been involved in numerous video and film production facilities for both broadcast corporate and educational facilities. Representative corporate studio projects include General Electric, JC Penney, American Express, AT&T, Proctor & Gamble, Northwest Mutual Life, J.P. Morgan Trust, Merrill-Lynch, State Farm and Sony. Broadcast clients include WNET, NBC-Chicago, HBO, Manhattan Studio Center, Unitel, Teletronics, Dallas Communications Complex, and Chelsea Studio/ All Mobile Video. Educational facilities include the University of Iowa, Northwestern University, CUNY Graduate School of Journalism and Brooklyn College Television Center. He has also designed numerous professional broadcast mobile units.

Bill has also been involved with many unique architectural lighting projects including Walt Disney’s EPCOT CENTER, the rapids at Niagra Falls, and the sky scenes for the Riverport Casino in St. Louis. He recently developed a new street lighting fixture for the lower Manhattan’ Streetscape.

He has worked extensively in the hospitality industry and has significant project experience in planning large multipurpose ballroom performance facilities as well as staging corporate events in them. He has designed complete support systems for facilities including Bally’s Park Place, Trump Taj Mahal, Trump Plaza, Caesar’s Place and the Convention Center (Atlantic City, NJ), Swan Hotels (Orlando, FL) and the Golden Nugget (Las Vegas, NV). Corporate theaters include Milliken Fabrics, AT&T, Hudson Theater in NYC and Tishman Auditorium at the New School for Social Research. He has produced for music theaters in Branson, MO and the Music Mansion at Dollywood.

Bill developed the 1995 program of renovations for the New York Sheraton Imperial Ballroom and recently upgraded the lighting control systems in the New York Hilton Ballroom. He is also involved in redesigning the large multipurpose rooms with staging facilities for the Isle of Capri Casino in Bossier, LA, Biloxi, MS and Rosemont, IL.
